Uniden BC796D Blank Screen

I have a Uniden BC796D scanner that has been in a box for several years after a move. I went to use it today and the screen comes up blank with an orange background. The scanner itself is working as I can hear chatter on some frequencies.
I've searched the forums but don't see any posts on this.
A friend of mine has the same problem. Is there a solution for this?

You can try a Factory Reset, shown at the bottom of this page:

To Erase Memory

• 1) Turn radio off
• 2) Press and hold three keys 2,9,manual and while holding those keys in, turn on radio.
• 3) Display reads "ALL Memory Clear Please Wait"
