Ok guys heres the deal. I am trying to listen to a digital radio freq in my area, it happens to be Hampton, NH PD 155.0250 I am pretty sure thats the freq although I have heard different freqs from different places, but...i had it in my scanner and it locked on to the signal and the Signal meter was all the way up and it went to P-25 then like back to NFM of LSU or something like that I forget wat it was, and the sound sounded like a robot and then would go to static and back to robot sounding, why cant I listen to this freq without having this happen, I have never heard it come in clear, any ideas? Thanks guys.

Is one of the indicators ENC (the others for a P-25 system would be: LNK, ENC, P25)?? If so it would be an encrypted transmission. From what you describe that sounds like what you're hearing.

There are some ENC radios floating around in this state. Mostly state agencies that I have heard. When it comes up ENC on the 796, I can still hear the dispatcher plain as day, only the ENC radio is robotic. Check your digital decode setting, may have to just tweek the setting alittle. Works for me normally. Unless all of Hampton has gone ENC which seems to me very odd, because the state PDs haven't yet.

When the display reads P-25 push HOLD, then the number 9 KEY, use the channel button to change the audio settings for the digital transmission. When the audio clears up press ENTER to save the settings. then press the RMS button to exit from that screen. You can only change the audio settings when there is people talking(transmitting).
