Welcome to Radio Reference!

The Proscan software (or any programming software for that matter) is installed on your computer (PC only), not in the scanner. Install the software in your computer and then connect the scanner to the computer. There is an extensive help document in Proscan... from the top toolbar in Proscan once it's installed on your computer click "support", then "manual". There are also many, many videos on Youtube.

Also, check here and read through all the links given there:

I have found that Bing tends to give more focused answers than YouTube, and it seems there isn't very much for the 325P2. However understanding how to program it - even manually - would help teach you what the scanner can do. Also note that the 996P2 is the 325's big brother, And of course we have a wiki article that will help get you started....

The other question I had was can I be disconnected from the computer to get the names of the PD's and other frequencies to show up on the scanner? I am looking to get a software where I will be able to see the names of the frequencies listed on the scanner. Thank's a lot man! Appreciate it all your help!

As described on the Proscan website, you get a fully functional demo of the software for 30 days. When that time is up, you will be prompted to purchase registration keys to be able to continue using the software.

The scanner is capable of what you ask, it doesn't matter what software you use to program it, or by programming it manually without using any software at all.

Have you looked at any of the videos linked above?

The scanner needs to be connected to the computer so my ProScan or any other software can upload the systems to the scanner. You can try ProScan without the scanner but the 30 day fully functional demo/trial clock will run down.

Do you already have a list of frequencies and are they conventional or trunking frequencies?

Yes I been doing a ton of research but I am still a bit confused. I thought that when its programmed manually it can be a bit of a headache and the names of the frequencies dont pop up like for instance "Boston Police" will show up written on the scanner if I am tuning in that frequency that is what im talking about. did not really understand what you meant by the scanner is capable of what you ask? Will the names of the frequencies still show up if I am not connected to the computer? Thanks man!

I do have a list of frequencies yes mostly police and fire departments, some are conventional and the others run on the P25

Yes they will. Having the names and frequencies appear on the screen when scanning and not connected to a computer is not a function of the software. That is how the scanner works regardless of how you program it (with software or manually).

Again.... If you watch the videos, some of those videos will show the scanner running without being connected to a computer.

You will need to install the Uniden USB driver to communicate with the scanner. Click on this link and go to near the bottom of the page. The instructions will be under Supporting Software and Driver. BCD325P2 - The RadioReference Wiki

Yes, provided the scanner is already programmed.

Are the P25 frequencies conventional or trunking?
ProScan programming is the same as the scanner and all other software, you start with creating a system then group and so on like this.

Conventional System
System
-- Group
---- Frequencies

Trunking System
System
-- Group
---- Talk Groups
-- Site
---- Frequencies

{edit} Watch the videos as fxdscon is advising. Your questions may be answered
{edit2} ProScan has a 'Get Clipboard' function that will import conventional frequencies, trunking frequencies, & trunking talkgroups. The system, groups, & sites needs to be created first then using the 'Get Clipboard funcion, it's relatively easy to import from a document or web page.

Oh I did not know that, I watched some tutorials and it shows that when some people entered it manually the name of that frequency does not show up

Yes, provided the scanner is already programmed.

you need to program all the uid's or alias, ie "boston police" into the scanner as you program the system that they belong to, the scanner doesnt do that for you.

"IRVING POLICE" is a text tag (or channel name). It needs to be in the software so it will be in the scanner after uploading the data from the software to the scanner. To get it in the software, you can type it in, or if you have a document that contains the frequencies and text tags then it will be in the software after you use the Get Clipboard function. If you have a RadioReference subscription then it will make the whole importing process that much easier.

Using the RadioReference Import function. It located in the Database - Import menu. A database file must be open first. Your questions may be answered by trying the 30 day fully functional demo/trial.
