I live in Colorado and the majority of public safety uses a Project 25 network. There are some talk groups committed to data and some packets of data that are transmitted before and after the user talks specified by the LNK indicator I image.

My question is, how do I capture data with this scanner? I’m sure this is a very open ended question so hopefully I can at least get a start on my research. I may be searching for the wrong terminology but I can’t find much information.

I’m computer savvy so if I can get help making the data transmissions in to some sort of binary stream on my computer I could decode the rest.

Thanks for ANY help, input, links, or information you have to offer!

You can't really see the link data unless you modified the 396 for baseband audio output. You would be better off using an additional scanner with a discriminator tap and feed it into a sound card input to use with the UniTrunker program in order to see this information.

Have a look at the Wiki:

If you just want to look at motorola P25, 9600 baud systems and have a PRO-96, you can use the programming cable and the Pro96Com program to do the same thing.

question

Will the Pro96 show you the same information as the unitrunker software?
Or will the Unitrunker software show you more?
Thanks,

Yes it displays the same information, but it can displayed better on UniTrunker, IMO.
