I am trying to listen to Fairborn, Ohio police. I can hear part of the conversation but not all of it. Is there something I am doing wrong or do I need other equipment. It used to work about a year or 18 months ago.

it also says Marcs-IP (P25)

I suggest you click the ! icon in the upper right corner and ask this be moved to the Ohio thread. Those with in-depth knowledge of this Ohio system may spend more time there, than on this page.

Sounds like your vhf frequencies are no longer in use and you need to program the appropriate sites of MARCS IP into your radio.

The 396xt is capable of receiving it, but it needs to be programmed in.

The may use those conventional channels for tactical or chit chat but everyone is on MARCS. I receive them very well when in the Greene County and Dayton areas many times a year. I start receiving Greene County just south of Jeffersonville.

I used a BCD396XT since 2006 until a couple years ago when the HP-2 came out. I also use a BCD436HP.
