BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Uniden BCD436HP Weather Alert set-up question

Hi! I'm very confused when trying to set up a Uniden BCD436HP scanner to get weather alerts. Currently hitting the weather button, which I believe is Function and then 6, does nothing at all. When I go to a weather channel I get just static. I'm not doing things right, and I really need to figure this out. Before some of you respond, yes, I know there are alerts on phones, weather radios are a thing, etc., those comments won't address my problem. Thanks in advance!

If u find a active weather channel it must be in alert mode for SAME alerts, meaning it has to sit on the weather channel in standby mode waiting for the alert to come across, if u just want it to alert while scanning u can have it on weather priority to get the weather alert 1050 hz tone. I don't remember if there's a function key to use on the alerts

To test - try going to WX operation via menu.
Menu / WX Operation / Weather Scan.
This will scan/lock onto any active WX station in your area,
And, yes, check your squelch - recommend 2.

If you get a WX, then play with SAME...
