The BCD996P2 mounted in my vehicle has developed a new pain in the butt. Every time I turn off the vehicle and restart it, the P2 turns on that stupid Close Call feature and of course it stops on some noise of broadcast radio station. Bad enough when you open the glove compartment, the lid hits the knob to turn on the CC. I wish there was some way to program the CC to go away for ever

Sounds like you get power from a source that is always live regardless of if the vehicle ignition is on or off... you could change the power source to the other side of the ignition switch, which (in most cases) is called auxiliary, where when the ignition switch is off your power source is also off. But that would mean the scanner would shut off every time you turned off your vehicle, and I’m guessing that is not what you would like to see. But it would eliminate the radio’s tendency to fault into CC mode on startup. Can’t help you with the glovebox door issue, you already know what’s needed to fix that.

Sounds like you accidentally pushed in on the squelch knob. Press the squelch knob again to remove the close call icon from the lower right corner of the screen. If a frequency keeps appearing, press lockout.

change the close call settings in the scanners setting menu and look in the manual for how to do it.

Some settings are not saved unless you cycle power from the knob. I also have a BCD996P2 mounted in my vehicle. Try turning Close Call off and then cycle power from the knob. It should then work as desired when power is cut the other way.
