Thanks for the suggestion to try to get a refund. I called Mills fleet Farm and unfortunately since its been longer than 14 days they cannot credit my purchase for the difference. They did say that I could return the first one then buy a second one for the discounted price, but with shipping back and forth it would be a push and I'd be without a scanner for a week or more.

If Mills Fleet Farm knew how many folks read these posts and RRDB in general, they might not screw around for a few bucks and give a few dollars back on refund. There are other vendors that might take a more reasonable approach, given that the 996P2 can be bought for few bucks less. Might earn them a few more customers.
I agree that the 996XT is a solid scanner. But I gave it to my daughter and son-in-law because I still much prefer my newer 536HP, 996P2, and TRX-2. Nevertheless, Elfaure, enjoy the 996XT, it is a solid performer.
