just purchased a bcd996xt, when in scan mode it will scan alllllllllll the service searches such as railroad, public safety, gmrs/frs, FM BROADCASTING, etc, etc... is there a way to disable this so i can concentrate on figuring out how to program a damn p25 talkgroup????????? which is proving to be more difficult than first thought. any help at all would be appreciated and thanks in advance!! kent

While the scanner is scanning press Hold, then press Function, then turn the Scroll knob to Public Safety, or the service you want to L/O. While the F is still displayed, double press L/O . Repeat the above for any other systems you want to L/O or unlock. The F only displays for a few seconds. If you are not fast enough just press function again.

Do not press HOLD first. You need to be in scan mode (otherwise you will just be locking out frequencies).

F+scroll to the search you don't want. Then, while F is still active press L/O twice.

ok thanks guys for the assistance... also one last thing... i programmed my control channels only, theres 2 of em, in my p25 talkgroup, and the small freq showed 155.5275MHz in little numbers: the ID: 3079 was apparently picking up, but no voice was heard... man i swear this thing is more difficult to program then the radioshack pro-106 i sold... im starting to re-think my thinking on buying this bcd996xt... anyways thanks in advance, kent.

It's mite be easier to program with freeScan or ARC-XT

i think i fixed it... or the troopers decided to start talking LOL... i just added my TGID's manually. the radioshack scanner has a wildcard function which detects the TGID's automatically. mine must not do that or im not smart enough to figure it out haha
