Looking to find what kind of USB cable is used for the BCT15x. I have one mounted in a console along with a SDS 200 and a BCD 996P2 I need to update
some of the channels, and have the cables for the SDS 200 and the 996P2, but don't have one for the 15x. Looking at the spec sheet, it just says USB cable.
Thanks for your help.

The BCT-15X uses the same interface cable as the BCD396XT and the other models before it.

The BCT15X comes with a serial cable, which can be connected to a USB RS-232 serial interface cable. I use this one.

This seller also sells on Ebay, I have bought many cords for various radios and never had a problem. This cable works with several Uniden scanners that use the older type cord

Thanks, I called them today and I will use the cable I have and get a USB extension cable that should do trick.
The USB cables for the SDS200 and BCD996P2 will not work with the BCT15X. The front port is RS232. It is not USB. The plug on the cable needs to be a Hirose connector. You need a cable to convert the USB output on your computer to serial. The cable that came with the scanner has a Hirose connector for the scanner and a DB9 connector on the other end. If you have that cable, you need a USB to serial adapter between your computer and the cable.

Does anyone know the pin out for the cable?

The mini side of one of mine is jammed up, I removed it and the cable is showing the following wires,

Black
Red
Green
Orange
Brown
Yellow
Shield

I would like to match the pin out to a DB9 and use the back port of my BCT15X.

That's the best way to go, it's also how I program my baofeng handhelds. I just use the serial cable included with the BCT15 and a kenwood pinned serial cable for the baofeng with TrendNet USB to Serial. The computer seems to recognize it natively and saves dealing with the FTDI driver issues on USB serial cables.
