Uniden BCT-8 Control Channel scanning

Ive found several data channels and im not sure how to correctly use the CC Only mode, please help.

page 46 (manual is available on line)

• 
  press and hold "trunk"
  use up/down to find E1 or E2 Motorola type as appropriate (only works with Motorola systems), Press E
  Up/Down until you get to "CC only", press "E"
  Up/Down to select the Plan (details about figuring out which plan your system uses is in the manual.
