Hello
I ordered a BCT15 from Bearcat Warehouse.com and they called and told me the factory had discontinued it due to issues with it? Is this true or should I order from someone else?
I called back and spoke with the people at BearcatWarehouse.com and they told me that there would be a replacement for the BCT15....in 4 to 6 weeks it would be called BCT15XT? Just checking if this is accurate. I had read in some forums that the BCT15 was having problems with one of the ribbons coming loose inside?
I had a chance to purchase a Radio Shack Pro 163 this week that is on sale until the 20th. My preference is buying a UNIDEN product and was sadly disappointed when they told me it had been discontinued from the factory. Of course I have found some BCT15's on E-Bay for example, but would prefer to find out the accurate story from some people who have a better knowledge of Scanners as the last one I owned was a old Bearcat 210 years and years ago before I do so. This is my first post on this forum and I would appreciate any comments or opinions you might have. BearcatWarehouse had the BCT15 for $215.00 and my biggest fear is that if I wait until the new BCT15XT comes out...that the price will be far more expensive than the current price tag I can get a BCT15 for. Also...the salesman at BearcatWarehouse suggested a purchase a Bearcat 898T...Looks like a model that's been out for awhile...I don't want old technology as it appears most posts about it are from 2006?
Thanks

The BCT15, BCD396T, BCD996T, and the BC346T are now being discontinued. The BCT15 being replace by BCT15XT. The BCD396 now replaced by the BCD396XT. The BCD996T being replace by BCD996XT. Last but niot least the BC346T now relaced by the BC346XT. None of this radios had any real issues their just being replaced by newer models. The price will remain almost the same.

You'll notice a sticky at the top of this forum relating to the release of the 996XT and 15X and the features that they will have. They are apparently expected to be released late summer.

The 396XT and the 346XT were already released. The list price for the 396XT is very close, if not identical, to the list price that had been in effect for the 396T. You can look at the prices for 396Ts that are still available to get some idea of what the price for the 15 might be once the 15X is available.

Everything right except for this. The BC246t was replaced by the 346xt. There was never a BC346t. Other than this minor issue the rest of your post was correct :)
Happy Monitoring!

And to clarify on Bearcat Warehouse's response, the BCT15 is not being discontinued due to any problem. It is just several years old and being updated as part of the complete line revamp. Unfortunately, our crystal ball was a little fogged...we stopped production on the BCT15 expecting to have inventory on-hand to cover until the new model arrived. All inventory is now in the hands of dealers/distributors. If you look around, you should be able to find one brand new, but they won't be out there much longer.
