BCT8: Uniden BCT8: stuck in HWY mode

I have a BCT8 Uniden scanner.
It is stuck in HWY mode and I cannot find how to exit Hwy mode and Just go back to scanning my local fd frequencies. I have tried the (2-9 Hwy button) turn off on method numerous times. It still stays in HWY mode. Can anyone help? Manual does not say how to exit Hwy mode.

Cycle through the "State" and "PVT" buttons until HWY disappears from the screen.
