Uniden Command Programming thru COM port

I am interested in dabbling with the serial port interface of the BC246T. I got the UASD software to work with COM2 and can do things. But when I connect the hyperterminal to COM2 (all serial port settings match to device Xfer menu) and connect I get no response. I type commands from the documentation but nothing happens.

Is there a wake up command that must be sent? Anything else I can check?

It works for me. Is data rate set properly in the radio and Hyperterminal? Did you set caps lock to ON at your keyboard?
