Does the TRX-1 have a feature like the Uniden Discover feature?

I was monitoring a DMR system one time and the scanner recorded the talkgroups with recording, but I don't remember how I did it.

Okay. So if I have the wildcard tag on for recording this will log all the tags.
Generally speaking, a wildcard set to record will provide you with all the TG's it finds, as well as time/date stamping, control channel use, and other good metadata.

You could do it that way also, but then you won't know who is talking unless you memorize talkgroup numbers to aliases via RR, or figure them out as they talk..

In the whistler program, I think it's the 2nd or 3rd to last column from the right - that's the "record" option. Make sure it's checked, then upload to scanner again and it will scan whatever you have checked.

As Reconrider suggests, I would consider it as standard practice to enable Global Enable and Search Enable in EZScan (Advanced Options > Audio Option> Recording Options).

I also find Limit Search very helpful on the TRX1, especially when the recorded audio can be taken offline and analyzed using something like USAP: Universal Scanner Audio Player

That's the best way to do it, have it do discover while you are using the scanner like normal. I always have a wildcard in all systems to record everything unknown and all TG's and CTCSS's that are known and programmed do not have recording set to them. Then I copy recordings once a week to the PC and analyze using USAP. You can't do that with a Uniden scanner as it lacks specific wildcard settings.

Where are the recording files located on the chip? So, when you have the wildcard set to record and there are known talkgroups not set to record, then the known talkgroups are not recorded. I think I got it right.

Correct. When scanning I often hit the Menu button on annoying/repetitive Wildcard catches so that I can lock them out as TG's and so the Wildcard will no longer stop on or record them.

Where are the recordings located on the SD card?
On the SD card, your audio files are in a folder labeled as Rec.

You can use the Audio tab in EZ-Scan to review your recordings. You have the option to sort by date, system, talkgroup, frequency, etc. If you can sort to where you have a string of recordings from the same frequency & talkgroup, then playing the sequential recordings may help identify the user or function.

For the Uniden scanners, I use the Universal Scanner Audio Player. I have used it on my TRX-1 at times, though for that specfiic scanner, I normally just use EZ-Scan.

Is there some reliable place to download that player? I found the MediaFire link in another thread, but the file sharing site just keeps saying that it's blocking a "dangerous file."

Nevermind... I found the googledrive link at the end of the thread. Sorry about that.
