Has there been any discussions in the past I'm not finding here that talks about whether the Uniden scanner setting for end code detection works or doesn't work for 9600 baud APCO-25 trunking systems?

I'm quite sure that the status bit detection setting should be off for these types of systems because the talkgroups don't go in jumps of 16 with the status bits using the numbers between. Not sure what having it turned on does when it sees an odd numbered talkgroup.

The end code has me scratching my head though.

My guess is it isn't relevant to an APCO Project 25 control channel.

That's the way I'm leaning also. I did find some discussion about this in some other forums but there was just enough 3600 baud control channel and the new & improved 396T info to muddy the waters. Anybody out there have a sure answer?

Status bits are not relevant with a 9600 control channel. End code comes in two varieties. For analog trunked systems it is a subaudible tone. For P25 voice channels it is a digital word. The 396/996 can be set to use or ignore both types of end code individually.

Thanks for the reply.

How about for the 296D with just a single yes/no choice?

The 296D only handles analog subaudible tone end codes.
