Uniden GPS Kit mounting question

I would like to know if the GPS Module works if it is not attached to the windshield?
Basically, my question is would it work if you leave it in the cup holder, or glove box.

It might, it might not. The tall buildings in Boston may affect reception as well.

Does the GPS on your phone receive while in the cup holder/glovebox?

For location based scanning, a continuous signal isn't really necessary. As long as it gets a fix every now and then it should be OK.

I mounted my GPS receivers inside the dashboard below the plastic cover under the front window with good results.

Food for thought GPS is better no than it was 20 plus years ago but why do you think GM and FORD put GPS antennas on the roof of the car?
Does your XM Radio work in the Glove Compartment? If you put a BOX over your head can you see?

My personal favorite location is behind the A-pillar cover with magmount/3M tape. Careful attention to avoid interference with airbag deployment - there is usually an ideal spot at the base of the A-pillar beneath the airbag mount. This gives a good sky-view above the dash. Easy to route cable behind, below dash in a concealed manner to center-console.

My CB-GPSK for the SDS-200 has no issues sticky taped to the overhead compartment right next to the scanner.
