Hello, I'm new to scanners, and new to the forum. I searched the forums with every search phrase I could imagine. I have a Uniden BCD325P2, and I am using the demo version of Butel ARC-XT software. I only have one system installed, using one group, with approximately 50 channels. When I place it in HOLD mode and scroll through the channels, there are many additional channels beyond what I uploaded. They range from 30 Mhz to 9xx Mhx, and are labeled PUBLIC SAFETY. I have no idea how many channels there are, because I got tired of scrolling through them, but I would guess there are hundreds of them. The channels are not displayed on my software. Is my scanner having to scan all these channels? How do I get rid of them? Thanks in advance for your help.

They are built in. Called "Service Search"

To lock them out:

Menu->Search For->Service Search->Edit Service->Scroll to Service->Search With Scan->Set Lockout->ENTER

These frequencies are part of the built in service search. Your 325 will not be scanning these unless you tell it to.

Edit: The post above already answered it. Gotta love ninjas!

Thank you for the response. I'll try that.

I tried that, but my file path appears to be different than the example given. When I get to >Service Search, I don't have an >Edit Service option. At that point, I have >Public Safety, News, Ham...

This is the path I took. >Search For >Edit Service >Public Safety >Search With Scan >Set Lockout.

After doing this it is still scanning the public safety channels, along with the ones I programmed. I also used my same path, and selected >Temporary L/O, with the same results. Am I missing something?

You will want to choose lock out instead of temporary lock out. Temporary lock out resets every time you reboot your scanner. Otherwise, the path you had given is correct(just double checked on mine)

while it is scanning hit function and then lockout twice quickly.
do that until the radio says "nothing to scan"
and then just put in the system you want.

Linkero, that's what I thought. I was just trying to see if that would work. wtp, I'll do that. Sometimes a fresh start is best.

doctordialtone, thanks for the tip. As you probably know, the Uniden manual leaves a lot to be desired.
