Hi LA Area RR-ers, I have a Uniden MR-8100 that could use servicing. the radio Radio powers on and can be programmed manuall or via the Serial cable but it doesn't appear to be demodulating the audio. Can't be sure where the issue is as I'm not a EE/Radio tech. However in looking into the case there isn't any obvious issues like a bad cap that I can see. I know these Radios had been stock in CHP cars in the 1990s so I figure there may be a RR enthusiast in the LA area who has might know someone with expereince servicing this rare Unide radio. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions and pointers on where I might get this serviced and back in use. TechyNYC

Thank you iMonitor!
I found the weblink to Mike Morris (WA6ILQ) and his MR-8100 software and documentation previously. I used Mike's info and was able to figure out a way to connect to the MR 8100 via DosBox running under Windows 10. Which was so COOL. However since I cant hear any audio I need to get this serviced by a EE or experienced radio tech at this stage.

There are 3 wires to power this radio up, one of the wires is to mute the audio, (green) if you connect them improperly it shorts out the audio and you will hear nothing again. The solution is replacing diodes D07 & 08 on the brown board. Test them with a meter or a Huntron tracker
to see if one is bad or both. Hope this helps and is the problem you have.
