That is an excellent wish but will never happen even though that would be perfect for my needs.

The scanner itself didn't work so great but the design would be excellent for a advanced scanner like they make today. All buttons. Not complicated but very easy to read display with a large font. It may not look like a Christmas tree with all kinds of confusing, useless information in lower case but it was just what you needed to know like what you were listening to. You could actually use it as a mobile and operate it while you were driving. All buttons, no complicated menus within menus that causes you to drive your car off the road. That's exactly why it looked just like the professional radios the professionals use today

Again I can just imagine what a cool radio that would be with the guts of the SDS series.

You are dreaming. Makes way too much sense and would be way too cool.

Yeah baby there you go. I would like that radio sitting next to my Motorola's also. All buttons and big dials that you quickly learn the location of so you can touch them without even looking and that big display with a big font. I programmed it just like I do the Motorola with things like BUCKS ZONE 8, FIRE EAST DISP, BUCKS EMS NORTH or MONTCO FIRE DISP OR ABINGTON PD.

Simple and functional. Not a bunch of information to tell you how good or how bad your radio is working but simply listening to what you need to hear.

Pretty well made, didn't have many pieces breaking off of that LOL.

PS... That display was lit up with bright green lettering that you could easily read in the daytime or nighttime.

UPMAN please take note of the above conversation.....and I am sure there are more people like this that would pay a premium for a P25 Public Safety scanner. Not to mention I am sure there are agencies that would equip fire trucks and police vehicles....Like CHP did back in the day......and for the real advanced user Key Loading for encrypted talkgroups. Use a Motorola KVL to load keys into the scanner....Now I am dreaming!

Ah yes Mr. Geek now your head is in the clouds. LOL... it's nice to dream though.

I don't think Uniden would have any intention of making a radio like that and I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears.

I could see making a RH like that just for the SDS series. The connection is there already. Can you imagine that big font display with white printing on a black background or vice versa? You could see it standing outside of your car. It truly would be a dream to have an updated version. <sigh>

I'd be happy if the SDS200 looked like the HP-2.

:poop: lol just kidding, you are welcome to your opinion. I'll welcome it to look less like a toy, though. Just my opinion, you are welcome to yours - the HP1 and 2 sold several units so obviously some liked it.

I was talking about the 8100 with the guts of the SDS series. All big buttons and large knobs. With a bright display with a large font. They may make a SDS in the form of an HP 3. Who knows what the future holds but I know they're not going to make anything in the design of the 8100. Happy New Year everybody.

I think there would even be a market for an SDS inside a beefier Motorola type case, just drop any current gen hardware inside a new case and jack the price up 25%. Sort of like the custom versions of Xbox's and such. :)
