I think I'm about to open a can of worms but here it goes. In everyones own personal opinion who has the better made scanner. I personally own a RS pro2044, (love it) but have been eyeballing the uniden BC898T or BCT8. Thanks.

P.S I have been scanning for many years, but after comming across this site and you folks, it turns out I don't know squat  keep up the great work, we need people like all of you, as well as a site like this :D

O dont think you really want to start this up do you. Its like the chevy vs ford, mac vs pc debates. We all have our opinions I would hate to see the flame war that might erupt from this.

Rocketman1...if your not sure...heck..order one from www.usascan.com...
Quoted from their website....

"You must be 100% satisfied with your Bearcat scanner when you order from CEI. All Bearcat scanners purchased directly from CEI are sold for your evaluation and testing for 61 days before you decide to keep it (excluding CEI E-values). "

Buy it..test it for 61 days..if you don't like it send it back...can't go wrong with that deal...their prices aren't bad either...and no I am in no way affiliated with that business...I was going to order a 796D for evaluation but a buddy bought one before I ordered and after playing with his I decided to stick with the Pro-96.

I know!, I was holding my breath when I logged on.

itsaawgood, I think I'll try your suggestion, it sounds pretty good, not too many places will let you do that, and I heard great things about this company.

I bought my 898T from them and they were great to deal with. I had the unit less than a week from the time I ordered. BTW, it is a real nice scanner. One drawback for some people would be that it doesn't have alpha tags and also only has 500 channels. Neither is a problem for me. Instant PL/DPL decode is a real nice feature and when it stops on a frequncy, the PL/DPL also appears next to the frequency. On the 785D, the unit has to scan through (and not very quickly I might add) all of the PLs and DPLs until it flashes the correct one. The 898 does it instantly. Oh well, just my nickle's worth, The decision will have to be yours.
