Shouldn't hurt a thing... As long as you have the switch in the battery compartment set correctly...
So as not to try and charge the alkaline batt's...

Didn't know there was a switch. I just checked both my radios and they defaulted to alkaline. While I'm here, I have a follow-up question. The other side of the switch is labeled NIMH. Can I assume that it is OK to use and charge lithium rechargeables as well?

No... Only Nickle Metal Hydride rechargeable batt's (NIMH)

Be carefull now... 14500 lithiums are 3.7v apiece and the same size as AA batt's...

A good way to go "Up in Smoke"...

I am aware of those...
But you can't charge them with a NIMH scheme...
just warning against the 14500's... They are the same size as AA's
