Is it just me...or does the 800mhz reception just suck on Bearcat scanners? I have collected scanners for about 15 years now. Most of them are/were Radio Shack brands, most of which are non-trunking, but the two I listen to most are Uniden. I have a BC250D and a 780XLT. Listening to 800mhz is such a pain in the neck. I live less than 10 miles from the repeaters and still only get moderate to weak reception. I have tried three different antennas and still get the same thing without having to move either the antenna or scanner around a dozen times. The antenna that came with them, the Radio Shack rubber duck, and another antenna suposedly designed just for 800mhz(the latter getting the worst reception). Geeze...if the wind blows hard enough, it interferes with reception. This is really becoming very irritating...and before anyone replies, an outdoor antenna is not an option.
