I heard that you can lockout all of the voice channels in a trunk system so that only the control channel is scanned. Does this work with VHF Trunked systems? Just wondering so I can program in Multiple towers into each bank.

Uniden scanners (at least the 250/785) do not provide a band plan selection in the menu for UHF/VHF trunked systems. And I just tested both UHF systems in my area by locking out all but CC. It doesn't work. GRE scanners will work without the voice channels programmed.

You can program multiple towers into the banks as long as they are
geographically far apart.

The radio will always latch on to the first or strongest CC , so you don't
want to be hearing more than one CC per bank at anytime.

Have one site that you hear the CC and one or more that you don't per bank.

This would be a space-saving feature that would be handy if you were
travelling as when one CC goes out of range and is dropped, your scanner
will pick up the next CC and so on.

You could have seamless coverage of a wide area using minimum resources.

Check out your site map and decide what would be good pairings.

Keep in mind just because you can't hear a site where you are presently doesn't mean it doesn't overlap coverage with the 'local' site. Take that into account when programming multiple systems. The sites should be separated by at least 80 miles, and even then there is no garuntee against overlap.
