Hello,

Does the Uniden SDS 200 use an internal battery pack ?

If so, where is the battery compartment door ?
What type of batteries ?

If so, can it be charged when the unit is plugged in, but off ?

Might someone please suggest a link to a very basic, hopefully simple,
getting started with level User Manual ?

Thanks,
B.

Did you mean the SDS100?
The SDS100 is the 200's portable equivalent (100 is portable, 200 is vehicle/desk mount)

The SDS200 is a 12 volt device, so any battery pack the puts out 12VDC will work.
How long it will run it depends on the capacity of the battery

The SDS200 is a tabletop or mobile model. It is not a handheld portable radio like the SDS100 is. It is powered by AC when in the house or 12 volt DC when mounted in a vehicle. The SDS200 comes with two power cords. One plugs into an AC wall outlet just like your toaster or hair dryer. The other is for mobile use in a vehicle. There are no internal batteries that you install.

Yes both the SDS100 and SDS200 have internal batteries. I don't know what kind they are and I don't know if they are user replaceable.

From Mark's Easier to Read Scanner Manual:

Note: Both of these scanners have a Real Time Clock (RTC) onboard powered by an internal battery. The internal battery will charge only when the scanner is powered on. It takes about 50 hours to trickle charge the internal battery up to a full charge, which will last for over a week. If the internal battery is depleted, you'll be prompted to enter the time upon power-up.
