I will probably butcher what I am trying to communicate, but here goes... Today (12/17/23) I am going to the Nashville Zoo for the holiday lights; whatever. The Zoo has 2 freqs they use, one a FM-DCS and the other a FM-CTCSS. I have created a Favorites list with just those two freqs in it via Sentinel, however when I have the System and Department blocks highlighted/selected and then try and un-highlight Channel so that it will cycle through the two of them simultaneously, it just resets to the default favorites list. I have the function turned on where I only have it scanning the favorites list and nothing else. Any help would be appreciated. Bottom line... I only want to be hearing those two freqs alone while I am there. Thank you.

The blocks are holds. If both freqs are in the same department then just hold the dept. Resets to default favorite list does not make sense. Can you elaborate on that a little more? How many fav lists do you have? Fav lists I believe are user created and there would not be a default one.

Let's say I have the System and Department blocks highlighted/selected, but not the Channel block, it is scanning through more freqs than just the programed two... I can try and make a video if that helps at all?

No. No video needed. You can only hold on one channel at a time so if you want to just scan those two freqs, you need to put just those two in a new department and then just do a dept hold on that dept and it will scan just those.

I'm a f****** idiot... I had a separate quick save that wasn't named and it was running through 20 different freqs simultaneously. Thanks for the help, so dumb...

So since the 2 channels are loaded in the scanner, see what the service types are for those and make sure they are enabled. Then on the scanner, hit menu, set scan selection and see of quick save favorites is set to on or off.

It looks like the Service Types are the issue.

But since there's no Uniden Service Types for "Zoos," you'll either have to assign one of the given Service Types to those frequencies (Police, Fire, EMS, Military, etc), or assign a "Custom" Service Type to them, then go to "Edit" in Sentinel, "Edit Profile," and check the box for that Custom Service Type.

The Zoo falls under Business

@cea1991 do you have Business service type enabled?

The Zoo has 2 freqs they use, one a FM-DCS and the other a FM-CTCSS.
The service type (Tag) is Business. That must be enabled to receive the frequencies. The service type is included in the channels if you download from the database or append using Sentinel. If you program the frequencies manually without entering a service type, the service type defaults to Custom 1 and that one must be enabled. The Mode for both frequencies should be NFM, not FM. By law, those frequencies must be narrowbanded and the database has not caught up to that yet. Programming as NFM will increase the audio level to where it should be.

The emergency net control call is "Sputnik."

The SDS has locked out all other types besides Business because it is within that FCC freq range, but still no luck... is NFM one of those extra types you have to pay to get a key for?

How about location control on that favorites list? Is that on?

Service types and FCC freq ranges have nothing to do with each other. DMR, NXDN and Provoice are the only options available for purchase at this time. Its possible those freqs could be NXDN or Dmr and no body has made a submission yet, but your issue right now is just getting them to scan.

I wholeheartedly appreciate everyone's time and effort. Manually entering parameters is definitely more my forte and sentinel drives me nuts. How far out do we think voice guided i.e. (Siri) tech is going to be? Although, I can hear the ridicule now...
