Not enough information for any reasonable assessment. Did this just start or has it been doing it since you got the radio? How long have you had the radio? Perhaps someone nearby to you has fired up a new transmitter. Why don't you post a sound clip here?

Is this happening across the entire spectrum or only on specific frequencies?

We can help you. Your state, your county, your hometown? What is it that you're trying to receive? What's the system? People here can pretty much figure it out and help you. :)

A trip to Uniden repair...
It's a connector that connects two of the circuit boards.... And it is a surface mount type...
The pins are very small and close together...

Part of the problem is the search engine here is still broke...
There is a thread with the pictures of it... Without the search I cant find it...

I hope your friend is very good and has the right tools.

It's apparently a fairly delicate "operation", but since it would appear that your radio is out of warranty, and providing that your friend is capable, might be worth a try. Also, most folks here are recently reporting fairly good turn-around times with Uniden repair services, so your other option is to pay the standard appx $90 service charge and just let them do it.

In any event, please keep us posted on how the repair goes.

Before doing anything, answer a couple of questions;
Does the noise happen only while at home? If you go for a walk, putting some distance between the scanner and your home, do you loose the interference? If so, go back to your home and turn off the power at your circuit breaker box… “Turn off the Main” is how it’s referred to. This will isolate your home from all power coming into the house. If the noise goes away you have determined something inside your house is causing the interference. If the noise is still there with the house power off, turn the power back on and go for another walk, by your neighbors houses to see if the noise gets stronger. That will tell you if the noise is generated by another house. If you can determine the neighbors are not causing the problem you can then start entertaining thoughts of returning the radio for repair and skip the remainder of my post. But if the noise gets stronger while at a neighbors house, it could very well be the problem lies within their house and the rest of my post would apply to finding a bad device in their house. Now, getting back to your house… if the noise goes away after you have thrown the main, follow the next step. Turn the main back on (and go reset all your electric clocks!). It’s now just a matter of finding the offending device by unplugging or turning off each item, one at a time until you identify the offending device.

That is exactly what mine was doing last year and sent it to Jon for repair of the CSJ. He fixed it and it is as good as new. You might have to use Uniden though; Jon's turnaround is not as fast as it used to be.
