Uniden SDS100 on GATRRS Austin-Travis County

I can't wait to hear someone chime in on this one. Austin can be difficult to monitor.

Yes I am in Round Rock, TX outside Austin listening to GATTRS or trying to with the scanners....but just not good - too many drop outs.
Was SO EXCITED about the SDS-100 - had it a few days and sent it back. Lots of dropped conversations - supposedly its gotten a bit better with firmware...but still not awesome from what I hear.
What I do LOVE is my Unication G4 - it is so clear even with the tiny antenna and works SO GOOD ON GATTRS !!
I had the 536HP too...sold it...solid radio - horrible on GATTRS - Still have an HP-2 for travel only with GPS. (also weak on GATTRS)
My G4 is awesome on GATTRS - you will be so impressed. I bought from Command Communications - great dealer out of Spring, TX (Houston area) - quick ship - great support.
And if you want would be willing to share my profile for the software - which has all of it setup. Just wish my WILCO wasn't encrypted...uggghh

rvacs, Can the Unication G4 receive/display radio UIDs? That was a big selling point of the 536HP for me. I might still pick one up.
I live out close to Lake Travis and figure the Four Points tower is my closest GATRRS tower. There are some hills between my house and that tower so I don't have good LOS to it. I generally get 99% good reception with the 536HP on E620 Simulcast 2, but it can degrade quickly with any weather, atmospheric disturbances, sunspots, Elvis sightings, you name it... Simulcast 1 is usually more circumspect with reception. If I listen to my 536HP against the ATCEMS Broadcastify stream (since its an official feed, I am assuming they are using system Motorola radios), I will occasionally see my radio lock on a TGID, sometimes even see the UID identify, but hear nothing but dead air on the 536, and then hear the missed transmission on the ATCEMS stream.

First thing - I have not tried the latest firmware for the SDS100 - so don't want to say on current performance - but I was not happy with several aspects besides the lack of simulcast call catching.
The G4 does show the UID.
Find a place that will take a return - try one - think you will be amazed at the reception and use on simulcast.
