I own a BCD536HP, installed in my truck, and an old hand-held RadioShack Pro-97.

Due to the current crisis I want to be able to hear what is going on in my neck of the woods while being inside my house.

When being in my house I MAY want to carry a scanner around to different rooms but I'm not sure about that. Having it blasting in my home office may work as well.

Chances are I'll keep it scanning for up to 18 hours a day, so having to plug in the hand-held SDS100 all the time will be annoying.

Then again, I may wish to walk around outside with the scanner.

I'd love some input and ideas from you guys. Should I go with the SDS100 or SDS200?

Like baj76 said. The External battery kit charger is a must. Get two batteries charge one while the other is in the radio. Me myself have the big battery which lasts about 8 or 9 hours on a full charge.

Well, if you may wish to walk outside with it, that seems to make your choice for you.

For a slightly more portable experience your 100 can be tethered to an external bulk battery pack with USB output. Power smartphone users have been using something like that for a few years.

I see SDS100 is not owned yet, but portability is better...
