This may have been discussed previously, but how do you keep your colors when you update the database on sentinel? I updated my 100 & 200 and when I wrote to scanner all of my custom colors were gone. Not really a big deal since it's easy to change the colors back manually but it would be nice not to have to do that. I'm "pretty" sure I wrote to sentinel "before" I updated the database.... Lol

My home 20 eating pizza.
I've been keeping my SDS-100 pretty "normal" lately. I'm still using the teal text and black background for the trunked and red text and black background for conventional. Nothing too crazy like I've used in the past but it's been working pretty well. I might mess around with it in a few weeks to set up some Christmas themes again like I have in previous years.

The fall off in color on the left side is the camera, I took the picture in the dark to avoid reflections. The county and zone are white and everything else is Sienna. As you can see I don't like a cluttered screen. With all that stuff on there I can't make out a thing so I just customize it to what I want.

The reason the text is off center is I use the same configuration for my 100 as my 200 and because the 200 has a stretched out screen, what is centered on the 100 is a little bit off on the 200.

Update the colors in Sentinel, not the scanner. The color scheme is stored in the Sentinel profile, and will overwrite what's in the scanner when you write to scanner.

For those of us with a little OCD behavior, centering text on the 200 can be a mind boggling, time consuming task ! But it’s part of the fun I guess. Especially when you guess the number of spaces just right to center the label.

If you buy Proscan, it will center the whole codeplug and make everything CAPS or small letters or a mix within seconds. One of the main reasons why I purchased it.

So we learned recently in my County that the Board of Supervisors voted to allocate the money to equip Fire and EMS with the ability to communicate with the police when they go encrypted. It is only a matter of time now before our police go full encryption but we don't have a timetable. I'll be selling my SDS radios as that will be the last system left in my region that isn't fully encrypted. I've always used white text on black but I've decided to start using color so I'm going to put a picture of my trunked and conventional color scheme.20201211_203645.jpg20201211_203512.jpg

Thank You. I did not know this. I could do the caps by right clicking but never saw anything on the centering. I had to hunt for it but if anyone who wants to know its located in Utilities under Update Text Tags

I think I've spent more time tinkering with the color options and field locations than I have programming my favorite lists! I've gone through a lot of trial and error because the colors on my computer screen don't quite look the same when they are applied to the scanner. I am really going for something that will look good in low light as well as bright sunlight.

Ultimately, I am tweaking a variation of the various shades of Sky Blue to look similar the to dash display of my vehicle. It's still a work in progress. Until my Explorer gets out of the shop (someone slid through a stop sign during a snow shower and hit it while my XYL was driving), I won't be satisfied on the colors.

Sometimes there is "too much" of a good thing, and while I commend Uniden on making all the various color and screen configuration options available, I wonder what percentage of users here with various OCD complexes continually tweak their screen settings, attempting to achieve their own state of perfection. I could imagine one could go nuts trying to get things "just right". I made a couple of changes to a few screen items. Of course, it doesn't help that I am partially colorblind !!! I always suggest making small tweaks as necessary rather than going overboard and trying to get everything "just right" the first time.

Albert Hofmann and Timothy Leary would be proud !!! (y)
Great references, right on the money... I felt like I was a plasticine porter with kaleidoscope eyes who had ingested Hoffman's potion looking at that screen.

Of all of Timothy Leary's famous quotes my two favorites are... you're only as young as the last time you changed your mind and the other is... women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.

Thanks for those references this morning MStep!

Great screen pro106!
