I am currently using a 396T w/Uniden SMA-BNC adapter with a Diamond RH77CA, and am wondering if I am having any avoidable loss going through the adapter. I am considering buying the SMA version of the antenna instead, but would like to know if anyone has the loss value of the adapter?

Assuming nothing is wrong with your adapter you may have at most a couple of tenths of a dB loss.

How very odd. I just placed an order to Scanner Master to replace mine. Amazingly, I have been able to keep up with this adapter since I bought the radio. Of course, this rather inexpensive adapter ended up costing more due to the steep handling/shipping fees associated with this company. The guts of one of my antennas stayed inside the last one. I have tried everything to remove this white plastic. I will buy some very small needle nose pliers.
