I finally got all programed into Uniden BC785D, including 3 banks of EDACS with all talk groups. But I can get the scanner to ID scan instead of Channel scan in EDACS banks. Help.

I'm here a lot
Question # 1 : Are you receiving the Control channel in each of those three banks ?
Question # 2 : Did each of the banks have LCN #1 start at channel xx1 ?
Question # 3 : Is everything enabled ? , ... no L/O's , all scan lists open .

come to think of it..

I used the e-scanner plus software...the LCN Channels are all in order for each site, some were blank, so I entered 000.0000 and did not check lock out. When it programed it it put them there in order but marked 0's as L/O. I could not get them to change out of L/O manually.

banks

I'm only dealing with 1 bank now, becuase too far away from others sites. If I can get 1 to work I will apply to the others.

programed the Edacs ID lists as well. My Radio Shack pro 2051, would pick up Control channel, then I hit search button to change it to say ID SCAN.

What system (state, county, etc.)?

Never heard of an EDACS with 000.0000 "in the middle" of the LCNs.

0's are fine - sounds like you might not have set the bank type to EDACS?

No banks show trunked EDACS wide (800mhz), Some sites have 15 channels and channels 4-9 are blank. Here is the link, I programed sites 2, 6 and 7. Thye are main ones for Orange county NY. You see how they have blanks in between. Programed it like that for RS pro 2051 and it works fine. But with Uniden BC785D not yet. Can't even get it to show ID SCAN. http://www.nf2g.com/scannist/NYCOMCO_EDACS.html Sorry don't know how to paste a link.

If no banks show trunked EDACS then you have a problem. You have to put the bank type as EDACS wide.

bob1857:
Remember that if it's a 9600 baud system it is to be set as Wide, and if it is a 4800 baud system it is to be set as Narrow. (Scat systems use only one channel.) Since RR's database shows "EDACS Standard" I would start by setting it as Wide (as rdale stated).

Here's the RR database link, which they list 8 total sites versus the 7 you see at the site you posted.

{*IF* I have this correct...} Menu ... 2: Scan Option ... 2: Trunk ... *select a bank* ... 1: Trunk Type ... 1: On ... 6: EDCS Wide ... 2: Trunk Channel ... *enter the LCNs* leaving the blank ones in the list(s) empty / as 000.0000.
--> Programming manually it won't allow you to leave it empty, nor can you enter zeros so you'll most likely need the E-Scanner software to do this setup.
You'll probably also want Activity ID 'On' also (#8 after you select the bank if done manually at the scanner).

I'll be interested to learn when and how you get this to work for you.

I have it all already set-up that way and used E-Scanner Plus. It put all the channels in and put the ones needed as 000.0000, however they (000.0000) show as locked out. I tried changing it but it won't let me. I think Uniden must automaticly lock out anything with 000.0000. It scans the bank, but never switchs to ID SCAN mode. That is the problem. By the way, first time I noticed a warick tower listed. I work in a Town that uses that system (PD), I'll ask somebody if they recently added a Warwick Tower. Thanks. I'll keep you posted.

It will lockout the zero frequencies since it considers them non-existent. Since both web sites show those as blank or "n/a" it should not matter that they are locked out in the scanner. [At the same time I've never seen or monitored an EDACS with blank spots in the LCNs either.] At the scanner when that system is being scanned press Trunk, then Scan. Those two key presses should have it in Scan mode (versus any Search mode). *quite an interesting system/situation*

Programming BC246T

I feel kind of intimadated by coming to a posting like this but I don't know where else to go. I used a Radio Shack scanner for years and was happy to listen to local police and fire calls. A couple of years ago the PD switched to a trunking system so I bought a Radio Shack Pro 95. Problem with that was that I was gettting evey Pct And Firehouse in the county so an ex coworker recommeneded the Uniden BC246T. He said that the Pro 95 wasn't capable of just selecting Pcts etc, that I wanted. I sold the brand new Pro 95 on EBAY and purchsed the BC 246T. Well I always considered myself reasonably intelligent but programming this thing just gives me a headache. I purchased a program called ARC246 but I was only able to once again get all PCTS in the county, and don't ask me how I even managed to accomplish that The scanner has been sitting on a shelf for over a year because I dread reading the manual AGAIN. Does anyone know if there is any place I can bring it and pay to have it programmed? I saw a posting on here that said that Uniden would program it but I would have to send them the frequencies, I wouldn't know what to send them. I live in Suffolk County New York and just want the 6th and 7th Pct calls, car to car transmissions and a few fire departments.
The nice weather is coming and I used to love to sit outside on the porch and listen to the scanner. I would apprecaite any help . Thanks
