Uniden UBCD160DN NFM

Hi, As a newbie to scanning I purchased a Uniden UBCD160DN, I have a question I would like to find an answer to. when my scanner hits a signal like 156.000 coastguard on NFM it makes just a buzzing noise or a broken signal sounding noise, is this because of my antenna (I am using a Scanmaster 2/70 twin band mini mag antenna bnc which I have on my conservatory roof) will I need a different antenna or am I doing something wrong.

If you take the antenna off I'd bet the noise is still there. It's internally generated in the scanner and you can't get rid of it.

It's known as a birdie. My SDS100 has it on the same frequency. Welcome to the RR forums!

It's different oscillator signals in a scanner and sometimes their harmonic frequencies can create interference on those even MHz frequencies like 156.000 and I have that on several different scanners. Sometimes it can be solved by switching a scanners IF frequency, that you can do on most Uniden scanners by a keypad button, Func+4 on the UBCD160.
