Uniden USB-1 Adaptor, Ebay?

I've been trying to find out if this USB adaptor sold on ebay will work instead of the $$$ Uniden USB-1 adaptor. It appears to be the same sort of connector so it can't be too far off right? Anyone got any info on this? Thanks.

The thing about the USB-1 is that it is a generic Prolific Serial to USB converter in the middle of a cable that has USB on one end and the Uniden connector on the other. Uniden scanners do not appear to have any capabilities of handing USB directly, so unless they managed to cram a Serial to USB converter in the housing of the USB plug (which I doubt they did) I highly doubt that will work at all.

I have the HomePatrol-1, the 996XT and 396XT. I also have the cable you are talking about, and it will not work with the Uniden scanners. Although similar, it is a bit too big for the receptacle. I don't remember how I got it

I figured as much. I actually found a cable like it around the house (not sure what it goes to either) but you're right it doesn't work. Ah well so much for saving a few bucks. Thanks anyway guys.
