Uniden dropped me a line in regards to my BC396T scanner. Stating the rumor of the silk screen rub off and the firmware update from the beta testing. They further stated that they are investigating the silk screening problem and will keep me posted as to any future repairs for such. They also informed me of the firmware update, which I've lready updated although it doesn't affect Illinois. Uniden very good customer service to drop a e-mail to your customers. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to any and all future products of Uniden, moreso the mobile to the BC396T.

I received 5 of those letters today! One for each email I used when the registration key problem was going on.

Paul Opitz quoted from that letter when he posted that the upgrade was available last week.

I'm merely commenting on the great customer service Uniden has. Not that someone recieved five of the e-mails. And yes this is very good customer service/relations.

Yes i am experiencing the silk screen issue, am I whining about it, no the scanner works great. If and when the silk screen issue is resolved on Unidens side I will then proceed to have the issue corrected. Am I going to stop using a perfectly good scanner because of a minor issue, no I'm not. Did I report on this board about the slik screen issue, no i reported it to the proper person and that would be Uniden, Whats the radioreference going to do about the silk screen issue NOT A DARN THING. If i purchased a MP3 player from Walmart am i going to report it to the radio reference board, no I'm not I would go to Walmart and return it. Again if and when the silk screen issue is resolved I'll worry about it then and not until then. And I'm taking my new scanner to SC with me in my carry on bag.

I am not sure what set this off; who are you blasting? This entire topic has 4 posts prior to mine here and 3 of them are from you. :?

In any case, in reference to this part of the above quote: "Did I report on this board about the slik screen issue, no i reported it to the proper person and that would be Uniden...". This is your thought on this issue despite the request by Uniden that you do just that; report it on this site in this topic. As a matter of fact, Paul asked those persons on the BCD396T Yahoo list to please post the details here. Paul has even used it to "file" data he got directly. Granted we (the RR Staff) can't do anything to help you directly, but we are happy to provide a central spot for Uniden to collect data online. But of course yours is not there.

As loumaag stated, UpMan (Uniden) requested that people having the silk screen issue post contact info so they could get some test units back to try and identify the cause. Thanks to UpMan, I've received a replacement and sent mine in for them to test. The new one doesn't seem to have the trouble so far although the replacement was not meant to fix the issue, it was only meant to get test units that had the problem into Uniden. They only took a few back, they only needed so many to test. I'm sure they will gladly replace those with the silk screen issue once they have identified the problem. Until then it would be fruitless to endlessly replace them.
