I asked a similar question about this about six or eight months ago, but I thought of something else.

OK, so I know that Unidens don't 'track' LTR Passport. But, the RRDB shows talk groups , like on this system for example: Washington County Dept. of Emergency Management Trunking System, Fayetteville, Arkansas - Scanner Frequencies

So do Unidens instead attempt to "follow" talk groups by scanning all of the voice channels, looking for a particular talk group? Kind of like how Whistler scanners don't 'track' DMR and NXDN systems but instead follow talk groups on the voice channels? ProScan allows me to download the system shown above and it seems to set it up as a scannable system.

Not really relevant to Unidens per se, but SDRTrunk does support LTR Passport...

I believe FreeScan would issue a warning about the system, but would also allow it and set it up as a trunk system. That's really a bug because there are no scanners that can currently trunk this type. It should instead be set up as a conventional system....Mike

Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Washington County (where the above system is), so I can't test it out and see the results.

And yes, FreeScan gives a warning message "This system may not be scannable", but constructs the system anyway.

I gather from your post you may be assuming that if RR lists a particular system, it’s receivable on at least one make and model scanner. This would be an improper assumption. RR lists what’s submitted. In the past I’ve consulted RR just to see if the type of system is proprietary, and not able to be received (or in the case of trunked systems) able to be followed. RR is like a menu. Beer and wine may be listed but if you are under age, it’s not available. (Yea, I know... poor analogy.) If I haven’t gotten your meaning correctly, please disregard.

The Uniden scanners will not trunktrack a Passport system. If the software you use programs it as any type of trunk system, you will hear nothing.
You would have to monitor traffic by programming all the frequencies as conventional and you will then hear all traffic in the system with no order to the conversation. In addition, one of the characteristics of Passport is the keyup of the repeater on each channel ever second or so. You can help avoid some of it by programming the frequencies with no delay set.
