Uniden's customer service?

My first post on this forum asked the members if the manufacturer's customer service was a consideration in a purchase. Almost everyone said "no", price was the biggest issue. Dealing with the manufacturer was the last place to go for info, second to last was the co. that sold them the product. Everyone said they would rather get their info right here on RR. I did that and got no response so I decided to go to Uniden's web-site to ask the question. Sent an e-mail, got the auto response, "Someone will respond in a couple of days". I went to check on the response several days later and the question I asked was closed and there was no response. I called Uniden and talked to a very nice person, polite and courteous. His only response was, "This is the way it was programmed, as long as it works, just ignore it". As for my question regarding why my inquiry was closed with no response, "We automatically close all inquiries that are derogatory and inflammatory". I explained my inquiry didn't have words to be considered derogatory. "Well" he said, "Must have been a system hiccup, I apologize for the problem" No result, no answer to the question. UPMan, THIS IS HOW YOU LOOSE CUSTOMERS!

From this post it's not clear as to what kind of problem you're having. If the scanner is functioning properly, and it's just a programing issue, I can understand why Uniden might not want get involved. It would take a staff of thousands to get involved with the details of programming for all thier customers.

What scanner do you have, and what are you trying to do?

The problem was nothing serious, it had to do with a very small display issue. The display indicated something that I thought should have been something else. My point was to show more about what happened to my original e-mail that was closed with no response. Yes, this should have been posted in the "Rants" section, I apologize.
