I've been looking over the specs on Uniden's new SR30C Scanner vs the very similar BC125AT Scanner and I have to ask why was the SR30C created? What does it bring to the party that the BC125AT doesn't?

The thing that stood out immediately that the new SR30C does not cover everything the BC125AT does. It appears the UHF Military Airbands have been eliminated from the new SR30C, why? That is what makes the BC125AT such a hot seller! Is this something our government requested or mandated? Should we expect to see this is future Uniden scanners?

SR30C: Frequency coverage is 25-54, 108-174 and 406-512 MHz

BC125AT: Frequency coverage is 25-54, 108-174, 225-380 and 400-512 MHz

The SR30C is a replacement for the BC-75XLT which has been discontinued. It has the same frequency coverage as the BC-75XLT did.

The BC-125AT includes the 225-380 band as you noted and also has a better display with alpha tagging.

Looks like you guys are right. I was comparing it to the 125AT due to it having 500 channels vs 300 on the 75-XLT. Now that we established that why would anyone buy the SR30C over the BC125AT at about the same price point? I wonder if a new version of the 125AT is coming soon?

A couple months ago I looked at both the 75 and 125, plus the 126. I really wanted a 126 but couldn't find one in the US at nearly as reasonable a price as the 125. I ended up going with the 125 and I'm very happy using it dedicated to air/milair monitoring. The price on the 125 was so close to the 75 I ruled out the 75 pretty quickly.

The UBC126 is not a North American model. You would likely be running into import costs, and you wouldn't have any warranty on it (if you are in North America)
