Is anyone using Uniden's USB cable on their BCD996T, and/or BCT15, with Butel's ARC software. If so, does it work well? Are there any issues?

I'm currently using RS232 serial, but I may switch to USB if it works just as well.

Thanks!

Works fine. I just put a BCT 15 in my F150 super crew and and took the lap top outside to program it and it works fine.

Have you tried real-time computer control of the scanner?

Thanks!

I just got the ARC-15 lite since the 15 will stay in the truck. I have used it with my 330 and the ARC 330 and have no problems with it on that one also.

The Uniden USB-1 cable works fine with all the current dynamic memory scanners for both the Uniden UASD and ARC software.

It's a cable with built in RS-232 to USB converter, and the only cable supported by Uniden if you have problems.

I use it for all of my current generation Uniden scanners (including my 330, 396, BC15 and BC996) and it works fine with both the ARC series of applications and the various UASD packages. It also works fine for Virtual Control.

The USB-1 cable is basically a serial cable with a built-in USB-RS232 adaptor. When you install the drivers you set a comm port for it that will need to be matched when you set the comm port in the application.

This all being said, I have also used the regular Uniden RS-232 cable with third party USB-RS232 adaptors with the same results. I did have to download newer drivers for my Aten adaptor to get it to work, but my Belkin and others worked with the included drivers out of the box on a variety of PC's.

USB-1 - BCT15 and ARC15 - no go

I got the cable from Scanner World - I have no serial port on my Vista computer. I have tried the usb cable on at least one other machine also - an XP machine - and the ARC 15 software does not detect my scanner.
I have set the baud rate on the serial port on the scanner. Is there some setting on the scanner to enable data connection through the front port??

The USB-1 cable shows up in Device manager and I have checked the port settings and matched them in the ARC 15 software... I have now spent about 4-5 hours trying to get this to work.
