Push Channel to do a hold, enter a frequency with a decimal and push Channel again, push function and then click on the rotary controller and the display should say SQUELCH LEVEL. Then turn the rotary to 0 and you should hear noise. If not, then push function and the replay button to start a recording.
Connect the USB cable to scanner and PC and select mass storage mode on the scanner and play that recorded file from the SD card, it will be in the BCDx36HP/audio/user_rec folder.
If that has sound then the speaker, audio amplifier, earphone connector could have a problem. But if that file also has no sound then lay the scanner on its back and power it off. Hold in buttons 2-9-DEPT while powering on and it will be reset and the display should indicate it. You can probably do the same by going into the menu and Settings and Reset User Settings. Do that Channel+freq+Channel and set SQ to 0 and check if you get any sound. If you do, then program the scanner again from Sentinel.
