I Purchased an off brand pair of 3100 mah ( supposidly)
1.25 volt NIMH Batts to try in the 325 . They took 20
hours to charge . I Thought I could squeeze a few more
hours of listening ....NOPE Lasted 5 Hours, and BEEP ...

There's no way those Ni-MH batteries have anything near that capacity. They're probably 2100 mAh or less.

Be wary of any non-lithium battery claiming over 2500 mAh. They just can't do it.

Are you charging them in the scanner?

My guess is they are 3100 mWh. Which gives you around 2500 mAh at 1.25v, I believe the factories are 2300.

was just a test . . . . and failed miserably

I bought some, 1.5 volt @ 3400 Ma ah. Brand was Ray Hom LI ion.
Outlast Eveready energizer max by 4 fold, per charge.
Dont get the 1.2 volt, they barely cut it full charge.

I know , I've dozens of EBL Lith ions , Can't charge them in
the scanner , slight drawback , but running a pair now for
the first time and see how they do . At home I have the 200
but there are so many freqs , it misses ALOT , The 325 doesnt.
The 325 I run thru a Fender 15 Watt guitar amp thru AUX
Sounds best of any heard The 100 does not sound good thru
the amp and is also slow to scan , compared to the 325 . I Do
not do any programming with computer, just what scannermaster
or whoever I bought from programmed for this county NDMX
other strange modes ? AIRS ?
