Sounds like they've added 100 to the station numbers. ie, kearns engine 9 is now 109, engine 18 is 118 and so on. This has been something that was supposed to happen long ago with a county wide numbering system. It happened everywhere but in Salt Lake City and Unified. They both held on the the single digits starting each with a station 1. In theory, Salt Lake City was supposed to keep the lowest digits all along as the numbering would obviously start at a county line. But Unified argued that they start at the opposite county line. (remember that slc and the old county fire dept. haven't always seen eye to eye.) So i'm guessing that the change has finally happened.

Ok that makes alot of sense with a few exceptions. I know that West Valley City, which is dispatched on Unified fire still is 71,72... etc. I think also some of the other incorperated cities have remanined the same. but your thinking does sound correct for the unincorperated couty areas. Thanx.

As far as i can tell, every other city in salt lake county stayed the same including salt lake, the only stations and rigs that changed were Unified fire stations and vehicles. That is basically unicorperated areas and the contract cities of Taylorsville, draper, kearns, holliday and herriman. They used to be 1-19 or 20 I think, and are now the 100's + their old number. It would get really confusing when multiple engines 7's showed up on a mutual aid call.
