Hi,

I live in Worthington, OH (North Columbus). When I try to listen to Union County fire dispatch, I can hear the dispatcher fine, but not any mobile or portables. Even with the radio fully UN-SQUELCHED, I still can't hear any units. Can anyone help? I listen to 154.250 for dispatch.

154.250MHz is not repeated - it is only simplex. You are hearing the dispatcher off of the base radio tower located on SR4 n/o Marysville. That tower houses several of the Union County radios ie. the sheriff's VHF repeater & the sheriff's fire base radios (dispatch, ops2, ops3 & ops4) Marysville PD's fire base radio is located right there @ the police department on Sixth St. That is why trasmissions from Marysville Fire are usually weaker in signal than the County Fire radio transmissions.

Union County is almost complete with the transition over to MARCS. The 154.250 dispatch crosspatch will remain indefinately since MARCS doesn't have any paging capabilities for the various FDs.

A repeater system was considered. Then the state decided that they had gone over-budget on the MARCS and needed some help from local agencies, and here we are.

Does Licking County have a repeater? I havent been hearing absolutley ANYTHING on 33.86 MHz either.

33.86MHz is not repeated in licking county. national trails has a VHF repeater set up to repeat 33.86 on 155.670 but national trails is in gratiot which is the southeast corner of licking county. the only fire repeaters in licking county are: west licking 154.430, johnstown & alexandria 151.295 & newark city 154.370.
