Does anyone know what these talkgroup IDs are? I have a list but I don't see either listed. 1045 sounded like some type of surveillance channel. The person was whispering and talking about observing someone in a house.

The Union County System provides radio comm for all Union County Depts, this would include the Law Enforcement Depts, which are the County Police, County Prosecutors Office, County Corrections and County Sheriff. If it sounds like a surveillance channel it is either the County POlice, Prosecutors or Sheriff. The Union County System is an EDACS and channels or talk groups are added/deleted very frequently depending on the needs of the various depts. I can get a list of all the current talk groups as of 2/1/2005 and will post it.

No, I don't work for Union County. I have a few friends who do work for Union County and I basically had them transmit on the various channels and noted the talk group ID #'s.

the talk group 1045- belongs to the Sheriff's Department Fugitive Unit, which goes out and hunts down suspects who fail to appear in court and have warrants. This may be why you hear whispering and they would be doing some basic surv. to see if there suspect is at home.

The talk group 0777, i haven't come across yet.

but there are a lot of talk groups many of which are not law enforcement. Also, since the sheriffs officers work inside court rooms, you may hear them whispering so not to disrupt court proceedings.

But i can give you some basic info to figure out who the ID's belong to.
If you are using Dec. format,
County Police fall within 500-590 range
County Prosecutors fall within 200-350 range
County Sheriff fall within the 1000 - 1050 range

If you are using the AFS format

County Police are 04-xxx
County Pros are 02-xxx
county sheriff are 08-xxx

The County Police and County Prosecutors Office are fully aware that they can be monitored, so for Investigations and confidential transmissions they use Digital channels which can not be monitored.

The County Sheriffs do not really get involved with investigations, so they do not have digital channels that I know of. Also, for the most part, only the Fugitive unit works at night and then only to 11 pm, the sheriffs office are off on holidays and weekends, so their talk groups will be very quiet during these times. The Sheriffs K-9 unit is on call anytime past 8 pm and do not patrol, only respond when assistance is requested.

So your best bet is to listen to the County Police & Pros.

Also, as for the post about leaking info.

I am sure you are aware that all this is public information, which is how scanner books, such as "police call" obtain the various freq, 10 codes, etc.

Chrisjz,

I beg to differ with you on your position that optaining radio GID from any other source, other than over-the-air scanning is Illegal. Under the freedom of information act, there is a lot of information that most might think is private, but in fact is public information. Such as the informatoin supplied to the FCC concerning the radio freq. Lic #'s, Etc.

You be supprise at the Information that is actually available by simple submitting a written request.

Then there must be a whole lot of info being "Leaked" . Because if you checked any trunked radio websites (ie. trunktracker, radioreference, Long Is scanner,, etc.), you can find lists of the various talkgroups. It is obvious that these talk groups where not acquired by "Open" listening on a scanner.

Even the GIDs posted here on radio reference for Union County. There is no way that the talk group names where figured out by someone who just listening to the scanner.

So, if these GID names & #s are illegally obtained, then posting them is just as illegal, as is downloading them from the website and using them.?

I am sure that some Comm. Mgrs. would not be happy about having their raidio GIDs posted ( i am sure that some of the GIDs are posted by Comm Staff), but i do not believe there is anything legal they can do about it.

Apparently, the EDACS system also has ProVoice and AEGIS capability. Does anyone know whether there are seperate TGs for digital comms? Also is their any data transmission over the trunked system? Sometimes I can hear what sounds like either digital voice or data on various frequencies of the system, however nothing shows up on the control channel data that a talkgroup is active. I am using a BC780XLT to monitor the system, I don't know if that matters.
