What was the frequency or talkgroup for CFD Fireground (where you heard UAL)?
UHF Fireground tac. This is United Mechanical on FG we have a plane coming in with number of souls on board and how much fuel on board with hydraulic issues set to land on runway.......
United doesn't give those reports to CFD, only the ATCT ring down in quarters, or a CFD company giving information to another company. The OCC also has the ability to hear the ring downs from the Tower. "Mechanical" could have been referring to a mechanical issue that another CFD company was telling the incident commander on fireground, they talk pretty fast sometimes, easy to missunderstand.
The dispatch 100 percent went out on fireground a couple minutes before it went out on CFD Dispatch. The gentlemen on the radio stated United on FG 100 percent for sure. Could I have missed something before THIS IS UNITED possibly.....but I will continue to monitor in the future. I have a radio dedicated to fireground and CFD Ohare dispatch because I live so close. But I will put FG on record for the next several weeks and see what come up for the next stand by.
