United Rescue Vs MMR

Here is Harrison in northern Clare county United Rescue has provided the area with Ambulance service now MMR has rented a bldg just outside the city limits and have taken over Frost Twp.

This has made a lot of people up here mad.

I really don't care for MMR URS does a fine job most of the URS personal are on area Fd's and know the area very well as MMR personal have no clue to where there going plus MMR is use to having FD's respond as MFR units here in Harrison we do not have that HFD runs no medical calls in the 364 square miles they cover.

When i was on Harrison Fire from 1999-200 we tried a MFR program it lasted less then a yr.

At this time no 1 can stop MMR from running Ambulances up here URS can have 3 Ambulances staffed Alpha 7 and Alpha 8 are in Harrison Alpha 6 is in Lake George Alpha 8 is a 2nd crew for the Harrison area which is being staffed more now from 11am-2300 since MMR has invaded the area.

i don't know about Michigan, but here when you call for an ambulance you can request which service you want- the county or the private amb service. so many folks refused to use the private one that they left my county after only 2 years. if you did not request a specific service, 911 just sent the next rotation unit like they do with wreckers. the problem with that was that sometimes the other service would be right around the corner but the one dispatched was miles away.

MMR "invaded" Genesee County recently too, put CM Ambulance out of business.

The other thing i forgot to say is MMR is dispatched by there dispatchers so when someone calls 911 the Clare county dispatchers have to pass the call onto the MMR dispatchers.

As where United Rescue is toned out on the Clare county fire ch.

I iwsh MMR would just leave and stay in the southern part of Clare county like they have been for years.

You can stop them.. All it takes is a heard from your County Med Control board. They control what companies can and can't work in a area of the county per a contract.

It has something to do with MMR already has a contract with Clare county to cover the south end and the county already has said they can't stop them from moving north.

They sure can Med Control Board of the county can.. Its all about contracts.

Here only 2 EMS Companies work the county and 1 city has their own EMS. Thats it no one else can move in without approval and thats never going to happen.

That is like United Rescue they were started by Clare County for all there funding for years and then when they started turning a profit they became private and there contracts are to cover the Harrison area which is 364 square miles or 9 townships plus cover Lake George while MMR was to handle Clare Farwell and Lake.
