At the risk of sounding dumb, I have a question. I know that one can use soundcard input to decode control channels with UniTrunker and one has to configure this in the Uniform program. If you are using the soundcard, do you still have to have the disc tap? Or can you just use a straight audio cable into your line-in or mic input? I realize in most all instances you must have a tap and a slicer to do any data channel decoding, but I am just trying to make sense out of all of this. Thanks in advance.

The short answer is yes. :)

As you might know, the discriminator tap is unfiltered audio and is the best audio source from which to feed either a soundcard based decoder or a solid state data slicer.

yeah, that's what I figured.. just wanted to make sure I had all my facts straight. Now I just need to find a used scanner online that I can put a tap on. Any recommendations?

Actually I already have a 95 and once rebanding happens it will be useless for trunking. Now, with UniTrunker I won't need a data slicer in addition to the tap right?
