I have Unitrunker setup and running on my Pro-2045 (with Tap) it's decoding perfect, I have a Uniden 396t scanner with no tap, can I get Unitrunker to use the Uniden 396t scanner to listen to the voice channels, do I put in the same trunked system into my 396t how do I go about setting things up.
Any help appreciated :confused:

Hello Saintly Steve;

can I get Unitrunker to use the Uniden 396t scanner to listen to the voice channels,
Yes. There was a bug related to this specific model that was fixed a year or so ago.

do I put in the same trunked system into my 396t
The radio accepts commands to tune to a specific channel. This is independent of any programming already present in the radio.

Go to the Receivers tab. Click the "+" to create a new receiver. Set the model to BCD396T, type "Control" and an operating role of "Voice". Fill out the serial port parameters to match your radio's connection to the computer. Try 115200 bits per second with 8 data bits and no parity.

Voice following is turned off by default. To enable voice following, go the Options tab and check "Listen". You will need to set the listening threshold to be numerically equal to or greater than the listening priority of your talkgroup IDs and user IDs.

Good luck.

Yep, I just did all of what you said and I will give it a try, right now there is no traffic on these systems, it's too early in the morning, no one is on yet, maybe around 7 or 8 in the morning it will get busy.

You can set a park frequency. If the radio jumps to the park frequency when started in the receiver window, you should be good.

The control frequency for the system is 937.0375, under control I have the CC frequency In park

And then under listen
priority=Parked
Frequency=937.0375 CC

I know this is probably wrong ????

Also do I leave my 396t scanner holding on the cc frequency 937.0375 CC
Steve:confused:

Steve, in all honesty, there's really no reason to need to use Unitrunker to control the 396T. The system you're trying to track is a Motorola Type II with analog voice, which the 396T will track all by itself. Just program the system directly into the 396T and scan it normally.

Hi Chauffeur6, That's what I'm doing know, I was kind of bored early this morning and was trying to see how this option worked but it's easier just trunk tracking the systems with my 396t by adding the systems into the scanner in the normal way.

Steve - the park frequency is normally a voice frequency. The signal receiver is already monitoring the control channel so placing the voice receiver on the control channel doesn't offer anything.

The one advantage of this setup over a single scanner is true a preemptive scan. The 396T - like all scanners - must leave the control channel to follow a call. If a more important call comes through, it won't know. By using a separate dedicated receiver for control channel activity, the program can preempt a low priority call with a higher one. If your ears and wallet can stand it, you can have multiple voice and signal receivers.

Of course, this isn't nearly as convenient or portable as a properly programmed handheld scanner.

Thanks Unitrunker, I'll give it a try and see how it works, nice program to figure out, very useful.

Might be a little off topic, but it seems closer than most I noticed in a quick thread search. Does anyone know if there is an option to place the controlled scanner back in conventional scan mode between trunked system captures for quieter systems in an area that has mixed trunked and conventional coverage?
