I'm only logging Source ID data when a radio "Joins" and "Leaves". This is not happening during calls. Is that normal?

I'm using a 996XT in inline mode. Everything else seems to be working perfectly, I'm hoping this is just an oversight or a minor configuration error.

Thanks!

No, not normal.

Is the 996XT holding on the control channel or is it also scanning, eg. picking up calls?

Absence of source IDs is usually low decode rate due to noise or radio repeatedly leaves control channel to follow a call.

The radio is locked on the system control ch. If I follow the same process for another type II system, it logs source ID for calls. The only difference between the 2 systems(that is obvious to me), is that the one that is NOT logging source ID's is using Astro IMBE for voice modulation, but even then, now that I think about it, there is one analog TG on the system that is also not showing IDs.

Thanks!

just my luck; PD is having major issues with the system and are utilizing a conventional channel for the past couple days. I'll have to wait for an EMS call for a radio to affiliate and get this logging.

I'm using discriminator audio and noticed a similar problem. I only get a source ID about 1/2 the time on P25 systems. I don't have 100% health on this system. Is the radio ID only sent once at the beginning of the call or something that would make it easy to miss? I don't seem to have the problem on narrow EDACS or Motorola systems.

Yes. Call grants happen at the start of the call. Some systems use message trunking. You'll see the radio ID of the first PTT. Subsequent PTTs on the same channel aren't shown. P25 does not use message trunking.

This system has 2 second hang time on the voice channels. Sometimes during a call before the voice channel drops out there can be 2 or 3 different people talking but the source ID will be blank or it will show an ID that does not change when somebody else starts talking.

Call grants on VHF occupy two TSBKs. Since the message is longer, it is more vulnerable to bit errors. That said, multiple grants are sent (eg. 2 or 3) so you should catch at least one.

Update to my original post: I have setup a descrim audio output of another radio to another PC. Unitrunker now logs source IDs. That rules out the system. I'll hook up the 996 to PC#2 via inline and check again.
