• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

My unit came as a 721 remote head and I have changed it to a radio mounted ch-100. Getting the 'lost mru' message. I can see the head with RPM14 via USB, and I have read the radio via serial and have it's 721 personality. I thought it might be as easy as changing radio type to CH100 and writing back but that fails. The head has R06J03 and the radio R03B06 (RPM 7) so I imagine those need to match. Any guidance for a Moto guy's first stab at Harris? My initial guess is that I need to find R03B06 for the head and write it. Then I can try writing the radio again via USB.

Other way around - you need to find R06J03 for the MRU. You have a pretty decent mis-match of firmware between the head and RF deck. This can occasionally cause some weird things to happen. That being said - the firmware is probably not your problem. You need a CAN terminator on the back of the RF deck. Once that is in place, you will need to read/write via USB on the CH100, you can no longer program via serial on the back. BTW "LOST MRU" is basically the equivalent of FL 01/90.

Hmm seems it was the terminators all along. I powered it on after installing them and it came right up. I was able to read via serial, then change radio type and program via USB. Seems all good for now. Wouldn't have guessed those were an issue on a dash mount. I probably still want to find XLPR06J03 and update the MRU if I can.

Googling XLPR06J03 gives me no results (besides this thread)... Is there a good source for firmware for those of us without a state contract with Harris? I need whatever is compatible with RPM R14C05.
